Traffic Manager 52 views

The Traffic Manager is responsible for scheduling and tendering customer FTL shipments. Other responsibilities include reviewing and optimizing replenishment shipping schedules and managing carrier websites for accurate delivery information. They will reconcile and approve freight invoices and verify return information with the customer. This position works in conjunction with the Distribution Requirements Planner to schedule and track inter-site loads between company warehouses. The Traffic Coordinator will act as a liaison between the traffic department and customer service.

Traffic Responsibilities

  • Uses load information provided by DC to create and send rate request/load tender to carrier distribution list. Schedules appointments with customers as required and maintains a record of all shipment details in the truckload log
  • Audits and approves freight invoices to ensure accuracy of information and associated costs
  • Identifies and informs Customer Service of any discrepancies with invoices and deliveries; investigates and corrects discrepancies
  • Receives customer freight complaints from inside sales/customer service via the CRM system; researches complaints and initiates follow up with the carriers and customer service
  • Guides the customer through the carrier claim process when needed
  • Updates and inputs customer shipping and return information into the system as directed by customer service
  • Contacts customer to verify details of all returns; schedules pick up with freight service, prepares shipping documentation and bill of lading

Planner Responsibilities

  • Plans and schedules inter-site transport orders utilizing SAP and the inter-site algorithm to meet demands
  • Ensures the inter-site shipping schedule is sufficient to meet all inventory requirements.
  • Reviews replenishment shipping schedules; monitors shipments to customers from non-originating DC and adjusts originating DC; optimizes trucks for transport orders in order to minimize expenses
  • Reschedules dropped loads with current carriers or carrier network
  • Reroutes customer’s orders when needed to increase customer satisfaction and lower transportation costs for company
  • Up to 10% travel may be required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Basic knowledge of computer programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to correspond with carriers and follow through with company expectations

Education, Certification / License & Work Experience

  • High school degree required
  • Some college preferred
  • 1-2 years traffic experience
