internet and a network of agents that serves as distribution points, Copia has built an
innovative and sustainable business model that makes accessible a wide range of quality goods – be it rice, soap, mattresses, solar lights or even motorcycles to consumers at the base of the pyramid.
Founded in 2012 by social entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley, Copia started its first
operation in Kenya. The Company now has a network of hundreds of agents, small
shopkeepers in villages surrounding Nairobi, who share the Copia catalog with their
customers, place customer orders via mobile technologies and receive a commission on every sale. Copia’s fleet of trucks delivers customer orders to the agents’ shops for
customer pick up within 48 hours.
Chief Technology Officer
Have early, stage entrepreneurial energy? Looking for a hands-on, dynamic and action
packed role? Copia Global seeks a talented, individual to join the team and as the
primary technology architect of the Amazon of the new frontier. The position requires
creativity, excellent communication, knowledge and experience with ERP systems
configuration and exceptional project management skills. It is essential you are results
driven and can work in an unstructured start-up environment. You should be a
technology expert but also possess a strong analytical mindset combined with the ability
to understand business operations/needs.
Responsibilities
The CTO is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of the company and driving
how Copia uses technology to enable all its business activities and processes. The CTO
will work closely with department leads to achieve the company’s strategic goals in a
rapidly growing organization.
Specifically, the CTO will be responsible for the following:
 Work closely with the executive team to establish the company’s technical vision
 Lead all aspects of the company’s technological development
 Work in concert with senior leadership to leverage technology to increase
operational efficiencies
 Create and manage the technology team
 Implement technology solutions and assure successful adoption
 Create processes to ensure data is being correctly input, ensure integrity of data
and continuously identify data collection gaps
 Continuously research leading edge technologies that can be incorporated into
the Copia model.
Requirements
 Minimum Bachelor’s degree
 Highly analytical, quick learner and adaptive
 Significant development experience required
 Familiarity with Python
 Experience working with ERP systems. Open source preferred
 Demonstrable experience in project management
 Proven leader of technology teams
 Strong communication skills
 Proven ability to be a business strategy leader as well as technology leader.

Compensation
Compensation will be awarded in the form of a base salary dependent on experience
plus a bonus and/or equity dependent on performance.
